Gel Stains are formulated with a combination of pigments, oils, and urethanes to produce a deep and durable finish.
I used the same General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain that I used for the bathroom vanity. Layering coats of gel stain (per manufacturer directions), will result in a more opaque finish that is darker and shows less of the woodgrain. Really work it into the grooves of the wood and make sure you apply it all over.
